From the Moon... to the Moon

Joining Forces for Lunar Infrastructure Innovation

In December 2023, SoftServe joined an international coalition led by Astroport Space Technologies to develop lunar landing pad and infrastructure technologies under NASA’s STTR 2023 Phase II program . This partnership aims to make lunar landings safer by designing robust construction systems that can operate in the Moon’s extreme environment. SoftServe’s focus lies in simulating the mechanical interactions between construction equipment and lunar regolith to optimize construction strategies before real-world deployment.

Simulation-Driven Terra-Mechanics for Lunar Construction

SoftServe’s Robotics & Advanced Automation team will create high-fidelity digital simulations capturing the nuances of lunar soil behavior under mechanical loads: from terrestrial machinery and devices to transport modules. These simulations will account for diverse lunar surface properties to model equipment-regolith interactions across different scenarios. The goal is to identify optimal machinery synergies and transport designs that support resilient lunar infrastructure—before anything ever lands on the lunar surface.

Driving Innovation with Mission-Ready Simulations

This initiative positions SoftServe at the forefront of realistic lunar development by harnessing a simulation-first methodology. By rigorously modeling lunar terrain and equipment dynamics in advance, teams can reduce risk, refine designs, and enhance mission readiness. The project officially kicks off in January 2024, marking the start of an exciting phase of simulated engineering for lunar construction.

🏆 How it helps you WIN?

With SoftServe, your team trains in mission-critical lunar construction through precision simulations—mastering terra-mechanical interactions and transport strategies in soil before deployment. That means fewer surprises, optimized designs, and confident performance when your technology actually reaches the Moon.
